Shop Talk & Sharp Thoughts is a brand new talk radio show broadcasting on Annapolis Power 99.1 and the ISH on Demand iTunes podcast network.

The show is themed around the barber shop and is a strict men only zone. The cast consists of 5 men (4 of the 5 men are from Annapolis, MD). These educated, hilariously charming and opinionated men will be tackling topics such as hip-hop, entertainment, lifestyle, sports and politics.

Every day this week we are introducing you to a cast member. L.D is the co-creator and on-air host of Shop Talk & Sharp Thoughts, peep his full interview with The ISH Radio below. Note: L.D is the only on-air host that is NOT from the city of Annapolis, Maryland.

Introducing L.D

What do you define as “manliness”?

I would define manliness as being tenacious, aggressive a hunter having a backbone, having your own creed and ethos and the ability to stick with it.

In what ways are you a leader? In what ways are you a follower?

I am definitely a thought leader. I can develop my own analysis or draw my own conclusions independently. See I don't give a damn what anybody thinks. My opinions are mine and I do not give a shit who agrees. In order to be a good leader you have to be a good follower. I am a good follower because I know how to dial back my Type-A tendencies when necessary and I will always look to contribute in any positive way that I can.

What was your dream job growing up?

My dream job growing up was definitely pro wrestler.

If you could change one law, what would it be?

That's a good question. I am honestly not sure. I would probably change the student loan laws so that students get loans a .5% interest rate because to many students finish college and start in a major deficit its something the country seriously needs to address.

What’s your greatest failure, and how did you overcome it?

I am not sure what my greatest failure was. I have had a lot of low moments in my life but i can't pinpoint one moment that i would classify as a great failure.

What’s your greatest achievement and how has it shaped you?

Off the top of my head probably getting my MBA last year. I decided to go back and chase getting a Masters on my own and so many difficult things happened that would have justified me quitting but I didn't I stuck with it and finished. While the experience shaped me intellectually and academically for sure the real lesson was that life will throw you adverse conditions but you have to stick with it. The whole experience was a practicum in determination.

What makes you happiest?

Naked Women, alcohol, and sports in no real particular order.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

If I could change one thing about myself I wish I was a better relationship builder on a lot of levels.

If you could change one event from history, what would it be?

I would want to change a series of events from history but I often wonder what the world would have been like if JFK wasn't assassinated. The events of November 22nd, 1963 directly impacted human history in a lot of ways it changed the lives of Robert F Kennedy, his widow Jackie Oanasis-Kennedy, Malcolm X, Elijah Muhammad, Louis Farrakhan, MLK, J.Edgar Hoover, A. Dulles and I could go on and on. If JFK doesn't die a chain of events don't happen and we are looking at a different world as a whole with probably no 9/11 so if I could isolate one thing it would be that.

What are your three favorite albums? Why? a purpose

1. Life After Death- Biggie just shows that he can go on so many different directions and he does it beautifully. I can't think of any other album where an artist has a song that so eloquently speaks to different audiences.

2. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill- This album is a thunderstorm on wax. Thunderstorms are beautiful, chaotic, and natural and Lauryn is all of those things on her 1998 debut. This is one of the few albums that I can think of that I can listen to and evoke a different emotion on each listen.

3. Reasonable Doubt- Jay-Z gives you details, details, details! All of the songs have are there for a reason. If you ever close your eyes and just listen to that album its hard for vivid noir images to not pop in your head.

What motivates you to succeed?

The fear of waking up one day and looking in the mirror and feeling like I am a failure that didn't fulfill his potential.

What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?

Jay-Z-Blueprint 2- 2002

Which rapper would make the best U.S. President and why?

Jay Electronica he is intelligent. He has been through some hard times and he would be able to work across the aisle. That every man perspective would be helpful in the White House.

If you could have the answer to any question, what would that question be?

What happens after you die?
