The show is themed around the barber shop and is a strict men only zone. The cast consists of 5 men (4 of the 5 men are from Annapolis, MD). These educated, hilariously charming and opinionated men will be tackling topics such as hip-hop, entertainment, lifestyle, sports and politics.
Every day this week we are introducing you to a cast member. Eric a/k/a Buddy is the youngest of The Shop, offering an enlightening opinion from his point of view. Peep his full interview with The ISH Radio below.
Introducing Eric a/k/a Buddy a/k/a Young Swag
What do you define as “manliness”?
Being actively present in the life of those you support. Being hands on. Handling your business. It comes in different forms. I'm not cutting grass or washing cars type, but I still represent manliness.
In what ways are you a leader? In what ways are you a follower?
I'm a leader because I think for myself and I have a welcoming aura about myself that attracts people to follow or listen to me. What makes me a follower is the fact that I'm a selfless person and sometimes what's needed doesn't call for me to lead.
What was your dream job growing up?
Being Puff Daddy. I've always loved music and gravitated towards his presentation.
If you could change one law, what would it be?
Legalization of marijuana in every state.
What’s your greatest failure, and how did you overcome it?
I would say being cut from JV 9th grade year. I made the team every year after that.
What’s your greatest achievement and how has it shaped you?
Raising my son Donovan who is on the autism spectrum. Everyday is a challenge to be a great human being and to love unconditionally. No days off.
What makes you happiest?
Family, friends, laughter and peace. Simple things.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
To be more selfish with decision making. I'm selfless to a fault, I sometimes put others needs in front of my own.
If you could change one event from history, what would it be?
Slavery. That event being at the core of America’s foundation put into motion all kinds of ills that this country is still trying to overcome. The color of your skin is your jersey. Who you are on the inside is Colorless.
What are your three favorite albums? Why? Blueprint.
The production, the impact and the timing. Jay Z. Beyoncé the self titled project. I just appreciate that album and its diversity. I think it's her best work. James Morrison Undiscovered. Great album. Soulful. He is English so his sound is distinctive.
What motivates you to succeed?
Looking back on time and saying "I should have". Time is of the essence.
What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Young Jeezy Thug Motivation 10 Year Anniversary Concert In Atlanta. The vibe in the Fox Theater in Atlanta was priceless. Great Night.
Which rapper would make the best U.S. President and why?
Will Smith. I believe he is logical and optimistic. You can't be one sided to run a country. You have to be able to be a bit democrat and republican. "Here it is, the groove slightly transformed, Just a bit of a break from the norm".
If you could have the answer to any question, what would that question be?
Why can't we all just get along? Color is being used as a distraction to keep us apart and not work together. Our pigmentation is just flesh and though it may dictate your realm socially and economically we have more in common then we don't.
